It has been lovely to hear how hard all our children have been working on our focus value of kindness - there were some lovely examples in this morning's assembly.

Next week we are holding a themed week which is linked to anti-bullying week and is centred around   showing respect and kindness to ALL and understanding that everyone is different and that is a positive. This will incorporate all abilities/disabilities, additional needs, faiths and heritages. We will be celebrating the fact that Buckshaw is a diverse school and that everyone is different, unique and special.

Part of the theme for the Anti-Bullying Alliance's work this year is about adults being role models. As such, some of the staff will be speaking to the children about differences they have and how these have sometimes presented challenges. If there are any parents that would be prepared to speak to the children on this theme, it would be great to hear from you. Please get in touch head@buckshaw.lancs.sch.uk.

On Friday, we are asking everyone to wear odd socks to celebrate everyone being different, and we would love families to get creative with this theme! How else can you wear socks, other than just on your feet?!   We hope that families will join us on Friday morning at 8.45am where we will be singing some of our favourite songs on the theme, and then join the activities with the children which are taking place as follows:

8.45-9.00am - join us on the track/playground to sing some of our anthems about diversity and respect.

Followed by a series of workshops with the children which will include art and craft activities around the theme:

9am - 10am

Nursery and Reception (in their classrooms)

Year 1 and Year 2 (in the hall)

10.30-11.30am

Year 3 and Year 4 (in the hall)

2.15-3.15pm

Year 5 and Year 6 (in the hall)

Have a great weekend
